Now that I have your attention, it's probably a good time to let you know that the simpler your meals (nutritionally balanced), the more satisfied you will be.

'Eating games can reconnect us to the chain of life, nurturing an awareness about the reality behind each meal. That's the beauty of a more mindful way of eating." Michael Pollan

I imagine your life is as busy as mine. In that case, we don't have time to create elaborate meals that will be enjoyable at first but leave us energy-depleted to the point where nothing else gets done in the evening. So, forget the by-product and the frozen section at your grocery store; go straight for the best nature offers. Two-Ingredients Meal: Pan-fried Venison Steak and Broccolini.

Your Ingredients

It doesn't get more minimalist than that; not only will you not waste your time buying the ingredients, but it's so simple you'll have no excuse not to try this.

  • 2 servings of Venison steak(you decide how big you want them)

  • 1/2 a bunch of freshly broccolini

  • Coast sea salt and fresh pepper (to taste)

  • 4 tablespoon of cold-pressed olive oil

The Directions You Don't Need

I'll make it short and sweet. I sure don't have the time to tell you something you already know.

  1. Season your steaks with salt and some pepper.

  2. Game meat, like venison, is a very lean meat with little fat on them. Get your grill pan hot, and add two tablespoons of the cold-pressed olive oil. You need the fat to pan-fried the steaks.

  3. Immediately after adding the oil to the pan, add your steaks. Adding the steak to the really hot pan will give you that golden crisp outside layer while retaining a beautiful pink colour inside.

  4. Pan-fried for one to two minutes on each side, depending on the thickness of your steak. Remove from the pan and let the steaks sit for 5 to 10 minutes.

  5. In the hot pan, add your broccolini, turn down the heat, and cover the pan for 5 minutes. This will keep your broccolini crunchy but flavourful from the meaty pan.

  6. After your rest period, cut the steak, plate it, and add the remainder of the olive oil, fresh pepper, and more salt if you want. Serve with the lightly steamed broccolini and English mustard if you wish.

From start to finish, you're looking at 15 minutes. At most, 20 minutes. Enjoy!
